The Woolsafe Organisation

Woolsafe is a world-wide organisation dedicated to the promotion of quality care for wool and synthetic carpets and rugs through tested and approved products, accredited companies and services, and comprehensive information and professional training.

The original Woolsafe programme for carpet care products was initiated by the International Wool Secretariat (now: The Woolmark Company) in 1990, launched in 1991, and transferred to Wools of New Zealand in July 1994. In October 1998 the Woolsafe name and Mark were acquired by The Woolsafe Organisation, incorporated in England as Woolsafe Ltd.

The Woolsafe Marks are Certification Marks registered worldwide.

The Woolsafe Programmes

Worldwide accreditation programme for carpet and upholstery maintenance products

Woolsafe has run a certification programme for carpet maintenance products suitable for carpets and rugs made from wool and other natural and quality man-made fibres since 1991. In 2007 a new green certification was introduced for environmentally responsible cleaning products.

Training and accreditation programme for professional carpet and upholstery cleaning companies

Woolsafe has run specialist training courses for professional carpet cleaners since 1999. Owners and technicians passing the exam and meeting stringent qualification requirements can join the networks of accredited companies in their countries.

Training and registration programme for carpet inspectors

Woolsafe provides a specialist training and registration programme for carpet inspectors and a resource for resolving problems associated with the manufacture, installation, use and maintenance of carpets and rugs.

Resources for cleaning professionals

Woolsafe also provides technical literature, manuals, textbooks and information leaflets related to carpet and rug maintenance. Specialist in house training can be arranged for staff involved in cleaning or customer service.

Advisory service

Woolsafe staff are happy to give maintenance advice to carpet owners. A collection of technical papers and research results are available to members and licensees.
